Reminiscing: an ode to our first summer in Louisville

Now that the Indian Summer has left us, and we are spending our Sundays in the garden raking the fallen leaves off the grass, I have had some time to think about our first summer here in Louisville. And I must say it was a great one! As I went through my pictures, I noticed there were quite some things I did not get a chance to share with you. So as an ode to this perfect summer, I put together a short recap of our first Kentucky summer!

We took trips out to the country side to enjoy peace at my aunt and uncles farm and the silence at the Abbey of Gethsemani. Nothings better than watching chickens in the yard and smelling the aroma of tomatoes ripening!

We discovered the quaint town of Bardstown called Bourbon Capital of the World and ate authentic Schnitzel at Kresos’s while sipping on some truly grand bourbon.

We invited our family and friends over for a housewarming cook-out on the deck and were spoiled with fresh made bread and handmade burger buns (Thanks Joe!).

We tried ourselves at American sports and discovered our passion for disc golfing

…and invented spool racing! (Yes those are large cable rolls!)

We spent quality time with old friends that came to visit us from Austria…

…and showed Flow Louisville as best as we could: the Bell of Louisville, downtown, old town, as well as sculptures and sculptors alike! Mike definitely enjoyed his guy time!

We went on small adventures with our scooter and discovered hidden treasures.

We experienced local cuisine and ate delicious and healthy food.

And just enjoyed our new home to its fullest!

Louisville, I think we love you a little bit!

Have a great week loved ones! And don’t forget…life is a journey!
